But the lowly i3 tiling window manager seems to eliminate all those issues. and i decided to copy and paste the download folder from steamapps. I highly recommend this WM for gaming, I've had issues with full screen games and stuff like the Steam overlay on every single desktop manager I've ever tried (KDE, GNOME, Xfce, LXDE, etc). Thus, I have no problem inviting and joining friends in game. I use the i3 Window Manager, which seems to work great with the Steam overlay. I checked this out in the Steam forums and this apparently happens to Windows users as well, so it's not really a Wine / Linux bug.
The game will appear to freeze, but if you do a ps -ef and look for Steam, Steam isn't running. There is a bug where Steam will crash occasionally while playing the game. I played it for 6 hours straight with no issues. It installs, plays smoothly (assuming you have the horse power), and there are no noticeable bugs.
